Notepad++ is a free source code editor. I started using it years ago after reading a forum entry about a user having trouble editing his files. Apparently he was making the correct changes, but when he would save his file in the text editor he was using, it would add extra characters which was causing him issues.
I’ve run into similar issues when saving an edited file when it turns into a scrambled mess, but this doesn’t happen with Notepad++. If you run into the same kind of problems, I’d download it and give it a try.
